Today my modded PS2 stopped working.

The disk spins and all the lights come on as usual.
I've tried it in 2 T.Vs so it isnt the tv which is the problem.
    It was working perfectly yesterday.
It is a V4 model but i cant remember which chip i put in it, i have a feeling it was a Magic one or something like that.

I'd appreciate any help, thanks alot!

So, you don't even see any graphics on the screen (A black, blank screen)? Have you tried disabling your chip?

Your console's mainboard seems to be having issues (It can be any part of it though).
It could also be the mod chip causing the PS2 to fail when it dies...

You didn't insert any disc when you switched on your console right?

Anyway, nothing on earth lasts forever... so it might be that some component in your PS2 has died out (Or the solder joints have gone bad).

    @ OP:

I have two words for you:

    BAD RDRAM.

Before you ask "why ?", I am a professional technician who makes money from repairing dead PS2s so I might know what I am talking about.

RDRAM is how they call the memory that connects to the Emotion Engine chip (EE).

Or it could also have been the EE... rendering your PS2 "Brain dead".

Anyway, the best/easiest solution for your would be to either replace the mainboard, or get another PS2.

FYI RDRAM stands for Direct Rambus Dynamic RAM (DRDRAM/RDRAM).

In all these years I repair PS2 consoles I've never seen a PS2 with a broken EE chip. NEVER, EVER.

It's aways the RAM or on severe faults something on the IOP.

    Sorry for the late reply.

Thanks for the answers, doesn't sound like i can do much about it.

I've tried switching it on without a disk in, ive disabled the chip and it still doesn't work. It just shows a blank screen.

Hey everybody seems I have the same problem.

My ps2 doesn't display a picture or sound, my friends says the modchip might have messed with the bios and I have to reflash it.

    How do I reflash a ps2 bios?

    Please help.

    nope he is wrong .

just remove the chip and make sure there is no bridge between solder points

and then try if you get a video and audio
