new grease on worm gear doesn't work, help appreciated –
My slim ps2 was pretty old, and really noisy when the laser moved (made a loud buzzing sound), so I decided to clean the rails and worm gear and put some white lithium grease there. When I started the ps2 again it started grinding. So I opened it again and bended the arm a bit. Now the laser doesn't move smoother than before greasing at all, it seems even more sticky. When I started it again, the laser moves to the spindle but it doesn't read and stays there. Also, the disc makes the whistling sound (when it starts to spin) constantly like it was stopping and starting to spin again.
What the **** is wrong with this thing? Did I lube it wrong or something?
I played around with it some more and noticed that when I bended the traverse arm back up a bit it started working again but it makes the scratching noise whenever it moves. Then when I bended it back down it either doesn't move or moves very slowly while the motor is making a loud noise. I guess the worm motor is busted so I will try to get a replacement for that. However the motor was fine before I started playing around with the ps2 so it would mean I broke it somehow. I am not sure how that would've happened
