Need power for version 7 ps2 FAN
Need power for version 7 ps2 FAN –
I got this ps2 version 7 where the costumer tried to solder the fan connection back to the motherboard and he menaged to remove the pads from the mobo. I connected the fan to the power supply and I had no idea that it would be that loud running from 12v. Do you guys know of any places to get 5v from or whatever source that would power the fan. I tried looking around for modchip that use 5v and just use that as my source, but couldnt find any.
Any tips would be appriciated.
Hey Carl your bud from chicago Tap 5 volts off a 5 volt regulator uasally marked 7805 there are 3 terminals on the 7805 the output is the 3rd.
The 5V regulator on a v7 can ben found near PS2 and PS12 (I think) - As ZootAllures says its got 7805 on it. Looking from the top of the regulator, the pin on the left is the input (probably 8V or 12V), the middle pin in gnd, and the 3rd pin on the right is the regulated 5V
The fan is driven through PWM circuitary so connecting it to a constant 5V is not wise. It will probably work, but not recommended. Can you not reconnect the fan back to the pads, or nearest component?
