Btw.: For most stuff you do not need a laser at all, but PS1-Games only work with PS2PSXe, if you can't use your laser anymore...
...and PS2PSXe has no sound-support as of now,...
You have to open that machine up.
The whole optical unit needs a cleaning and some lub.
After that, THEN can calibrate.
Is important you post the trimers values, because you ll have an idea if they were touched before.
If you want that laser for PS1 only, then is easier than dvds.
Possibly you have an 400b, so you can put a new 400c without problem.
Maybe that is the better option if you are affraid of touch the machine.
Go to a technician, youll have it in 24hs ready to work.
If you want to try it, i`ll help you.
I open mine to dusk it out regularly.
And clean it more thoroughly, if it needs it.
(though it hasn't sence the very first cleaning)
So I can do that for the new one...
I however do NOT have any "lub" for the moving parts.
And yeah, ps1 use only.
I'll try to get to opening it and testing the trimmers today.
(If I get to it today, I'll check the code while I'm at it.)
Close the thread folks...
MY SISTER (the owner of the ps2) has decided that it's too much trouble to try to fix a ps2 that she only paid 30 bucks for.
As she timed it and it takes 2-3 mins to load a ps1 game, and that's fine for her, apparently.
She's just scared that it'll brake completely while we're trying to repair it.
And sence it IS hers, it's out of my hands.
Owell, no loss on my part, I got mine when it was brand new, so it's not like I'll ever have to use it...
A big fat MEH !
(and a "thx anyway" to all those that gave advise)
