my ultimate ps2

so ive been thinking on this for awhile. i havent acted cuz i lack the money and i believe the skill. my idea buts alot of emphasis on loading things off internal hdd

on the ps2 we have all this homebrew. the ones ill target specifically are fcmb, hdloader/opl, sms, and linux.
FCMB allows you to launch ur homebrew.

HDLOADER play ur backed up games off ps2 hdd or compatiple hdd. by default fat ps2 requires network adapter and ide drive. some sata drives are compatiple with proper setup adapters and cables etc

sms allows you to play media files off the hard drive.

linux is well linux rumored to be able to coexist with hdloader i havent seen a confirming article or forum.

and with everything relying on hdd, mem card, ethernet, and usb there isnt a need for the dvd drive.

my idea is custom case that is slimmer and more exciting than the fat ps2. the slim ps2 would be a good start but you would need the hdcombo which i think complicates things

opening the ps2 and looking into it it i imagine you could cut in half without the need for the top half once you remove the dvd drive and move some things around. the things i noticed are the cooling fan, power supply and switch, power and eject button and maybe heat sink.

so custom case for ps2, integrate the network adaptor, 2.5 sata hd (or 3.5 ide if 2.5 sata isnt possible) and remove the dvd drive. and there we have it a slimmer fat original ps2 that is original, plays movies, music, ps2 games, and boots into linux

this method may also improve the palm ps2

after further looking into it i believe the following cables will be needed to make this work.

for the harddrive male to female ide data, male to female molex
for the network adaptor male to female for two of the inside wires, longer wire or male to female for the third, longer ribbon i havent determined the kinds
for the power button maybe longer 5pin ribbon
for controller port maybe longer 36 pin ribbon

i still havent figure out cooling fan and heat sink
