I am going to try to install a modbo 745 by myself. Do I need to know of any precautions? Are the wires allowed to cross over each other/cross over chips on the board/cross over the modbo? Sorry im new to this.

The big question is how much soldering have you done prior to this. If this is your first attempt at soldering this is definatley not a beginner's project.Originally Posted by tester3000
First up get the necessary supplies. They omitted a multimeter, which I highly recommend getting one.

If you haven't soldered in a while or your a noob, find yourself some old PCB's and practice soldering the IC's, VIA's and other components.
Yes, the wires can cross over other each other and over chips. But it is best to keep the wire crossing to a minimum to avoid problems. Try to make your install as clean as possible. Look at " Lets See Some Ps2 Mods! Only Pics Please No Talk" thread in the modchip section. There are many great examples of clean functioning installs, strive for something like that.

I would suggest not to start with a PS2. Mod a few Xboxes first or something. PS2's require a lot of skill and decent equipment.
for a modbo 745 v7 are there any connections on the underside of the board?
Do you have to connect g,h?

Also do you solder to the gold pads normally? cause i read somewhere that you should scrape the gold off?? or is it gold?? Is it copper?

Yes, you are going to connect G, H, I and those are on the underside of the board. Yes, on those COPPER pads all you are going to do is tin them (melt solder on them). The ones you scrape are the little circular ones around them, you lucked out and don't have to do any of those on the V7.
cant load your pic (cant load anything from modbo2.com).I really want to see it can u upload it somewhere else? is it this pic?

I cant see where you connect g/h/i on the bottom.
Let me know if you can see this.

yep thanks for uploading. Is the chip positioning the same as the matrix infinity? Are these point different than the real martix? Do you have any pics of a v7 modbo installation?
I believe there are a few more points than an MI chip. I have a pic of a XENO chip installation, both modbo 745 and Xeno chips are identical, just a different name.Originally Posted by tester3000
