Modbo 4.0 works but now i'm having other problems

Hello everybody wondering if anybody out there can help me with my problem I am now having. Ok for starters I have the Modbo 4.0 with Firmware 1.99 the chip is working as far as i can tell. I can get in to the configuration settings and everything. Just now the PS2 only reads PS1 Memory cards and doesn't read my 8MB Sony branded PS2 memory card. Also my CD-ROM drive stopped working. I can eject the tray and that's it. It doesn't even spin the disk or anything. It doesn't remember and keep the system settings. Here is a weird one when I goto system configuration in the PS2 and try to change the time it doesn't let me change it to 2010. As soon as I do. It automatically goes back to 2000. I can goto 2009 and down and even past 2010 like 2011. It stays at that year or if i goto the year 2019 it goes back to the year 2009. But the system settings doesn't really bother me. Its just the memory card and cd-rom drive that is bothering me. And I can't get the USB flash drive to work. I think thats cuz I can't find where to download uLE.

I accdently disabled the chip by holding start on reset. Was trying to find out if the chip was causeing my problems. But that diden't do anything. How do i reenable the chip?

It's just that you messed up the Mechacon ...

Mechacon = CD/DVD drive CPU.

Points A, B, G, H and I connect to the Mechacon. Check them.

It's the Mechacon that reads discs and unlock the Magic Gate security on PS2 memory cards. That's why these two things stopped working.

Lucky you it still gives you a video screen as usually it gets a black screen when the Mechacon isn't working.

Basically the modchip install IS NOT RIGHT.

We here at PSX-SCENE recommend you to use Free MC Boot instead of modchips, unless your console isn't compatible with Free MC Boot.

well if you have a way of getting free MCboot to work on my V7 PS2 without haveing to buy anything then i would also relooking i think i might have bridged connection M with the pin to the right of it on the diagrams

If you remove the wires A, B, G, H and I from the motherboard (and from the modchip too) you should be able to use the modchip to boot something from the memory card. And from that you can install FMCB.

You can also try to follow the swap tutorials. It's something you only need to do once as after FMCB is installed you're fine as long it isn't deleted (so having two doesn't hurt at all)


Also you could ask a friend with a mod already set up to install the FMCB on your memory card.

the only real problem i ran in to looking at all the diagrams is i coulden't find a diagram that showed where to put the H and F connections can anybody help me with that

well i got that problem fixed so i tried a actul PS2 game on the dvd tray and it worked just fine but now i have another problem i burnt a game and tried to play it and at first it diden't do anything it just sat there at the browse and system config screen so i thought i would try and reset the PS2 and see if it would load the game on restart but then all i get on my screen is no signal and tried hitting the eject button and the tray diden't come out it just sat there with the blue light blinking so i waited for the blue light to stop blinking and then pressed it again and same thing about 4 tries later the tray finnaly ejected and the matrix screen poped up and then just went to a black screen and sat there and now with no disk or anything i keep getting the no signal on my TV with the same tray problem with the blue light blinking

Something's still wrong with your setup.

Your problem is probably related to the Mechacon being affected. Either it's because of a faulty modchip installation, or because you fried something.

l_oliveira had stated earlier, that the PS2 may not display anything at all if the Mechacon is not functioning properly.

IF YOU INSIST ON TESTING IT THAT WAY you will end with a BLOWN TRACKING/FOCUSING COILs or BLOWN OUT DVD laser diode.
Being quite frank, the more you test it while it's chip isn't correctly intalled, the more you risk turning the PS2 in a useless /laser-less black brick.

ya i know so i have taken it apart again and redoing all the wires and rerouting them and shortiningn them all will let you know once i'm done
