Mixing ps2 motherboards
Hi, just a quick question. Since there are so many different ps2 versions out there, I was wondering if you can mix JUST the motherboards around, and yet still have the same working console, except that the system information will show different text instead. I have a V5 console (GH-015 imprinted on board and is 30003 R) so I was wondering, since I can't desolder etc. and repairers locally overcharging alot, if I can swap the board with, lets say a V4 circuit board. I understand that slims won't fit and perhaps some laser chip are different, but I think some are very similar and will work.
So, in short, can anyone direct me on whether it's possible to swap my V5 circuit board with another without soldering or buy other parts?
EDIT: V6 uses the same motherboard (GH-015) but maybe V7 board may fit as well since it uses the same laser (need exact board print though as well as confirmation).
Just use this site, you can't swap out Mb's from one PS2 into another of a different version and have it work...sorry
v1,v2,v3 i'm not sure about sorry
v4 is not interchangable with any other
v5,6,7,8 are interchangable
v9,10 can be swapped
as far has i know slim ps2 boards are interchangable(try and not use v12)
but again i would double check just incase i made a mistake
Thanks for the help guys. Finding a little conflict there.
I can see that there is a motherboard that is V5/7 which I'm not sure about. I'm guessing that the motherboard can only accept a certain type of laser (in this case the sanyo one). I'll try to research more.
v1,2 use 400A/B
V4 400B(maybe 400c also not 100%)
I Have Seen Sanyo or Sony 400c & HD7
v9/10 the same Sanyo Or Sony
if the console is being chipped you could always use lenschanger and re flash the console with Lenschanger to accept the laser you are using
thanks for the help predz. Now to find some suppliers :P
Actually, there's the GH-017 / GH-018 / GH-019 boards go in the Version 7 category. Anyone have any idea which laser goes into these boards, or better yet, which one will overtake the V5 board with no problems?
i've seen both sony and sanyo in v7 and v5 but cant rember the revision no' sorry
tell me what laser your using and i'll see if i can match you a board
It's a KHS-400R or the SF-HD7. A simple ebay/google search will get you the image.
lol dont nned image m8 i got about 50 lasers in scrap bin
i'l hve a look see if i got a v5-7 board left that uses hd7 etc natively
but i got rd most of my stock now so i cant promise
