McBoot, PSXLauncher & Flip-top help. –
First off, if this is the wrong forum, then by all means; my apologies, feel free to move the post.
So I managed to install FMCB quite a long time ago and during the last few days I have spent some time doing some experimenting with running PSXL on older systems (v70012 in this case). At first, I used the sensor mod to block the sensors and swap at PSXL's main screen, this worked; until the game queries the user for the next disc. At that point, swapping out is not possible as the game has stopped the disc from spinning, and the tray must be fully opened for the system to register that a swap has occured.
So, I ordered a flip-top lid and swapped out the sensor blocks for it, thinking this might help. Naturally, I tested the same game (Shadow Madness), and when another disc swap request came through, I opened the tray instead. Swapped the disc, closed it; and the new disc started to spin, but the game stayed on the disc screen until I chose to insert the legitimate disc, then it loaded. My guess is that when a disc swap occurs, the PS2 is aware of this and is searching the disc for proper header information which it does not find.
I intend to test other games with more than one disc (Fear Effect, Legend of Dragoon), but I imagine the end result will be the same.
So, my question. is there anyway to play multi-disc games with FMCB, PSXL and a flip-top lid?
