Lenschanger + laser replacement question.
Lenschanger + laser replacement question. –
Thinking of replacing the laser on my old v5 ps2 as they seem to have dropped in price recently, but have a couple of questions.
First the lasers themself. The cheap ones seem to all be from china. Can't post link, just khs-400c on ebay will show them up. They all say new, I'm just wondering if anyone has used these cheap ones and are they actually new or refurbs and are they any good? Not really expensive, but if they don't work/are crap I won't bother.
Also my ps2 has the open face sanyo laser , these seem to be hard to find or are expensive, so I'm just going to use the lens changer to go to a 400c. So is there any compatibility issues between what I currently have and the 400c, ribbon cable length etc or just change lens type with lens changer and swap

Well I got one , but seem to be having some issues. Never fitted one before, so hoping it's something simple.
Used lenschanger to change to 400C. Was fine, had no issues with that. Fitted the laser, again was fine. Can't get it working though .
Static point is removed and without a disc in you can see the laser go red for a second checking for disc. With disc in, it just won't read them. CD's just click a few times and make a small attempt at spinning, DVD clicks but makes a better attempt at spinning up.
I've adjusted the white cog a a lot, but can't seem to make it go. Going too far one way makes the console buzz, with no real improvements up to that point, the other way seems better, but the closest I've gotten even going one click at a time is the DVD spins up to full speed, but then it clicks and spins down .
Not sure what to do? Just not a good laser? Console simply not liking being changed from R type to 400C, calibration data from lenschanger and this lens not good enough match?
