I've been surfing this forum for some time now and stumbled upon the freemc exploit which let me run ulaunch (I do have a 2nd mem card with an exploit which works with a trigger disc).
But since my laser is completely dead I can't use cd/dvds. So I wanted to resurrect the lens. I've switched the 400C with a 400R from an old ps2 which was lying around for quite some time now.
It's not working (well, I did not think that it would work right out of the box) so I want to use lenchanger. Since I can't use a cd I have to use the .elf file but it's not loading off ulaunch.
So the question is, do I need a modchip for it to run? I read somewhere that I don't need a modchip to run dev1 but I think that I do need one, right?
And if so, will it be possible to use the lenschanger elf without the need for a modchip in the future (like running it off a mem card with dev1)? Well, I guess no one can really answer that question as of now but it would be come in handy for sure....
The installer is only an ELF, like every other homebrewn app.
It'll run from USB, thats 100%ly sure.
Well, I used the official .elf and it would not boot up when started from ulaunch.
But I opened the .iso file and extracted another .elf from there. That version worked fine, I did use it to reprogram the eeprom. But my ps2 still can't read cds or dvds. So it's either a problem with the v5 laser (R400) in the v9 ps2 (C400) or a damaged/dead chip.
How do you run the PSX-Exploit, if no CD-Diode is working?
Freemc exploit version 1.4. I don't know whether it creates more compatibility issues than the regular exploit with a trigger disc.
