I've got a Duo 3 Gold modchip installed in a v14 PSTwo (UK PAL model SCPH-75003).

I've had this console for about 5 years and installed the modchip myself. I used it for a while with no problems, then moved onto the PS3.

Last summer, I went back to use it to play some games that my PS3 won't run. It was having trouble reading discs - it wouldn't load games on every attempt, and when it did, the game would freeze and/or complain of disc read errors, with lots of clicking noises. Eventually it seemed to stop reading anything at all. So I bought and installed a new laser and everything seemed fine.

However today, after about 7-8 months of not using it again, I went to play a PS2 game and, during the intro, it stopped reading again. There was a lot of clicking and after restarting the console it wouldn't load the game up again.

I'm aware that some slim PS2s have laser issues, but I thought the v14s were okay? Is there any reason my lasers keep burning out? Is there any calibration or adjustments I can do?
