Laser Fix on V14 75004CB Slim PS-2...

Hello,
I have Slim PS-2, V14 75004CB PS-2 (Not sure which GH-XX model it is as I have not opened it up yet?) and I?m going to install the Matrix Infinity 5E DNS 1011 clone mod chip.
Do I need to install a Laser fix on a V14 PS-2, as I've heard that it's only needed for the V12 & V13?
But here it says that it's needed for all V12, V13, V14 models, or else the LA chip & Laser will fry in time:

Or are they just trying to sell it?

The laser fix came with the mod chip and it looks like the Neo Fix XIII / XIV:

But it doesn?t say if it?s a XIII or XIV, so I guess it?s a clone.
So would it be ok on any V14 model?

By the way, would this be the best spot on the V14 PCB to place any mod chip?

as for placement thats where i put them on v14's but if you're not sure look at a load of v14 installs in the picture thread in modchips to give you a broader idea of what other people do.

i know, as i said in another thread, some sites just try to make more sales by telling everyone that laser fix is needed for all slimline. anyone who is still wondering this should read the automan's thread, which is sticky in this forum.

retroborg : If you didnt read all the thread regarding modding and possible things could happen when you are soldering the modchip... Please send it to a pro on modchip.

I've dove quite a lot of modding on PSX, PS-1, PS-2, Saturn, SNES, NES, Mega Drive I & II in the past, so installing a PS-2 mod chip & laser fix is no issue for me really.

My main concern is whether I need to install the laser fix in the V14 PCB, but apparently it's only needed for the V12 PS-2s.

For the Mega Drive I & II, I installed a region switch & a 50/60HZ switch.
I also trimmed the cart entry so that the Japanese carts can fit through.
That way I won't need those pesky Universal adapters no more!

For the SNES I did the region mod.
But I can?t seem to find any info on how to install a 50/60HZ switch like on the Mega Drive. I would love to play all those JPN & US SNES @ 60HZ instead of the slower PAL 50HZ.

Since I installed a Mod chip in my Saturn, I?m also planning to install a 50/60HZ switch (Detailed instructions above), but I can?t seem to find any info on region switch for the Saturn.

For the NES I deactivated the Region lock chip by cutting one of its pins and connecting it to ground.

There is even info on how to get a stereo separation in the audio of the NES!
