khs-400b pots only go to 388 ohm dvd, 286 cd

I probably know the answer to this, but my ps2 30005 v1.12?(not sure on that), is giving disc read error problems, won't read anything, bought it that way for cheap. tore apart, cleaned lens and mirror, weren't too dirty, tried adjusting cog and azimuth, removed laser, can see a wrinkle in the ribbon cable from the pots to the end of the laser on the far right side opposite the arm. ohmed cd pot-267ohms, dvd pot 356 ohm, slightly adjusted by 10-20 ohms until cd hit 286, then it went to OL, dvd went up to 388, then went to OL. Any ideas, is my laser shot like I suspect. The laser coils are good, reading 4.6 and 4.9 ohms. I am new to this so any help would be appreciated. I am using a nice meter, fluke 87 III. thanks
