unplug the power cord and use a dust cleaner (spray with the red straw) to clean the lens

i had this problem with my phat ps3 and it worked

also, if you want, you can hold the spray can upside down and spray the lens.
be cautious though cuz it'll spray out cold substance that can harm your skin.
    don't spray too much.

after let it defrost before plugging it back in.
    restart it

Personally I think on the 30001 to replace laser isn't really worth it, when you can probably buy a working PS2 FAT for the same price on ebay or buy newer FAT

The price of the laser is still expensive for that model and your better off with a V7 or V9 FAT PS2 if you still want a FAT PS2.

As for the 79001, if your PS1 CD work , there may just be an issue with the SM CD as its been known to happen.

To calibrate the laser on a slim, just adjust the tiny screw on the laser arm up or down, but only slightly.

To clean the lens, just use Rubbing alcohol and a q-tip. Dip the q-tip in the alcohol, but not so its dripping. Clean in a circular motion, gently but firmly for about 30 secs. Then using dry end of q-tip, dry it for about 6-8 secs in the same manner.

Oh ok I didn't realize you could get it that cheap. I have never seen them that low, but I live in Canada.

For that price I would change it then.
