just wondering how do you guys make that big solder blob when doing the ground point on a chip?

ive always used wire to ground the chip... but i'd like to try the blob method cuz it seems like it holds the chip in place nicely

the tip of my 15watt iron simply cant hold that much solder so thats why im asking

    thanks......

Add some heat and you will be fine (300 celcius doesn`t work for me, but 400 celcius does )

    Ya....use wire.
But if you really want to use the 'blob' method, make sure the ground point on the motherboard is shiny (fiberglass pen) and has flux on it.
Melt a fair amount of solder onto the point and begin raising your iron tip as the solder flows and it should start stacking up until it connects with the chip point.
This method will use quite a bit more solder than wire.
I no longer use this method since a ground point came unstuck from the motherboard during shipping.

    Cheers,
