How would a Layman go about finding out if the LA chip was cooked on his PS2?
I ask because I have a V9 that the laser has died on, It will still read CD's but not DVD's.

That means the laser is dieing. If you get a dre on the ps2 when reading dvds. The la chip is dead it wouldnt read anything.
So since it still reads CD's the LA chip is probably ok?
Yea it should be same thing happened to my system. My modder said the laser was just giving out.
Yes, the LA is ok if CD is read ok.Originally Posted by Tannah

Got a bit of a odd one here, sent the PS2 into get repaired, the LA chip seemed fine and even tested fine cold. but if you allowed the Machine to warm up the the LA chip would overheat and mess up the DVD coil. and if you tested while the LA was hot the LA tested bad, but as it cooled down to went back to good?
The LA also has the romeo mod done to it.
Anyone else ever come across a problem this bizzare?
