Hello, my reset eject ribbon cable is destroyed and I am not able to get my system out of standby. Is there any other way of turning the system on?

You might have to get a new cable. What kind of cable is it, the flat kind, or the earlier version which just uses wires? If its the flat kind, you may be able to scrape away some of the silvery plastic coating and reattach the wires, just for a quickie-fix. Or you could follow the signal back from the power switch to the motherboard and just jumper the points.

uhuh, what do you mean by jumpering the points, if you mean using a trace wire, that would be extremely hard to connect.

I mean, take a small piece of 30ga wire and tin the tips and VERY CAREFULLY touch the correct points together. If youre lucky enough, the power-on points will be right beside eachother, and you can just short them with something. I dont have a diagram for the connector, but Ill take a look and ask around. Yes, it would be hard to connect, and in reality, it would be much easier to fix the cable or just get a new one.

I bought a new flex cable for mine the other day, £4.50 off ebay for what looks like a 20p cable. The LED comes on (which i was well happy about) but the buttons dont work, ive just started another thread here to see if anyone has any ideas so if the same happens to you then that thread will hopefully have a solution.

p.s I searched for 'ps2 power cable' to find it on ebay which brought up

Yea, I have another question. The new ps2 remote thing has a power button and eject button on it. Will that work without the standard power eject buttons?

    "The New Ps2 Remote Thing"

Please clarify? What remote thing? If you are referring to the Remote Control that is used for movies, no, it probably will not work unless you have a SCPH-50001 model which has the receiver built into the PS2.

If you click that page, there are graphic instructions on replacing the cable in question. It's not that big of a repair if you use that visual.
