i have a dead V12 here from using that exact diode fix mate my advise is to get a h2o and install , it will be worth the wait and it will be better than buying a new console

...bad news, I tried to install it just until Monday so I could play some games and the PS2 started and then restarted itself, and then kinda went off.... The light turned bright green for a second and then to a very dim green and the PS2 no longer reads anything as far as CD/DVD's go. I took the mobo thing out and replaced the laser and it still does the same thing.
Now the PS2 boots up properly, straight to the browser screen and when I try to read a PS2 game/ backup/ anything it says there is no data... I wired the mobo according to this diagram:
Modbo Laser Fix
What could be the problem and what do I need to do to fix this?

i am pretty sure you have fried your RS2004FS it is like the BA chip on the V9/10's , Good luck fixing that though mate you need to be pretty skilled to fit this peice.I only say this though from my own experiences you my have just fried the smd resistors that the fix was soldered to, check them with a multimeter they should read 30.1 OHM'S if you need help on this use the search button it works a treat...
