Help!!broken Drive Worm Crazy
wat guys! 32 views and no replies.. well, slimsilver, its probably may be that the white cog behind the drive is out of adjustment and that may need some tinkering OR probably your assumption about the BA chip is correct.. replacing the BA chip is the best solution to check it though as it wont hurt changing it even if it was ok..
Now as i fully read your post, i realised that the white cog cannot be a problem as you said the drive assembly has gone wonkers.. well, if the BA chip solution wont work then changing the frive assembly is the only last solution i can think of..
its been quite a while since i toughed my PS2 so i have come back to refresh my knowledge about the PS2 now that i have taken a timeout from playing my PSP! lol..
Also, i remember that there are a lotta threads like this on the forum where you should check for answers..
hope my reply was helpful..

Its in the shop atm. I could not find much info on the BA chip checking replacing. The worm motor has gone nuts. Last night I purchased a older model PS2 that fell of someones coffee table for $60. When I get my slim back from the shop I will try replacing the chip and also upload pvr-802 laser firmware. I dont think that guy will be able to fix it or it may cost more than im willing to spend.
i may be wrong but i dont think v12's have a ba chip. think the RS chip controlles the laser moments.
I mean the chip that controls the laser movement on v12 it is a RS2004FS chip. In any event its totaly BS (bloody stuffed) and or RS (ratshit) I am currently reading into testing and replacing said chip fellers.
I found a post where a guy wrote:
I just had 3 different ps2 v12 and v13 for testing , RS2004 was bad on 2 of them , simptoms was clicking laser , motor keep driving the lens without stoping (This is my simptom). tested bad RS2004 chip on a working ps2 , got video problems , black and white from time to time , and ofcource no reading.
so im going to replace the RS2004 chip and then post back if I get it working.
I got it back from the shop and checked all the fuses and flashed the EEEPROM and checked RS chips it seems ok getting 40 ohms at the 4 test points, Im not sure if this is the correct was to test RS chip
How do you test RS chips anyone!!
