I know this has been discussed MANY, MANY times before... BUT I have a client who has this problem, but the funniest thing is that when he came for a check-up it worked like a charm... but when he was home he get this prob. with his slimline:

the redlight goes to green for just 2sec. then it goes to red again! But it CAN`T be a fuse not? Cause it did work when he came to me... so something inside there is shocking like hell... I heard something like the power is going to the ground or something... Where should I put my attention on when he come again??? Help, he`s arriving tomorrow allready

for starters check all the fuses - you never know. after that check all the ribbon cables. has it been modded? if so if that doesnt work the best bet would be to remove the mod chip and see if the problem goes away

Similar problem here. I've just removed a Magic V chip from a V9, and tried to install a CC2.0 I've made it till the first test, where the crystal-led should light-up for a second, but instead when I press reset, the power led goes red->green->led. Fuses seem to be OK. If anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know. Thx!

    Counterfeit power supply ?
I've seen some running wild here in Brazil and they're stuffed with pure dog poop.

So what if you're testing the PS2 with your original PSU and the customer has a counterfeit one at his home ? I would check his PSU if I were you ...

RED > GREEN > RED means there were no power on a critical circuit while trying to power up. Means you either have a blown fuse or a nasty short circuit.

    Silver Slimline Ps2 - Matrix Infinity - v1.91 Firmware - PAL

im having the same problem, set it up, red standby light comes on... press reset, goes green... then str8 back to red!

I bought it on friday iv had it less than 2 days. Took it round a mates house on saturday, had a few beers (u knw how it is) and played game after game all nyt! and everything was perfect. SO i dont think it is a heating problem. Played it on sunday nite using the multi-tap played a game for bout 45mins an hour went to change the game for something else...... then i went to put in the other game and all i got was red...green...red. I didn't hear a bang or anything unusual. Im going to send it back (unless its fixable). If i do send it back is it worth me getting it swapped for another? or just get my money back?

Solutions, tips, any advice would be smiled upon.... please help

    Fix this yet?

I just repaired one with the same fault green-red-green-red, turned out the be the PS14 2.0A fuse. Replaced it and works fine now. You can test the fuses with a multimeter any giving a resistance are blown. Just for a quick test I bridged the points this can be dangerous though, the fuse is there to blow for a reason!!

I have had this problem on a few mashines, but imo it cant be just a fuse or nasty short because when i leave the ps2 alone for some days it works fine again for a while. Atm i have 2 x 77004 at home with this same problem. Whole install removed on both on them, and boards cleaned up alot. It would be intressting just to know in what area of the mainboard the problem might be.
