So basically I will try to buy a modchip and install it on my old ps2 v12 pal unit. The problem is as it follows - should I get Modbo 4.0, Modbo 760 or Matrix 1.99? Not only from a performance aspect, but from ease-of-installing aspect. And my most biggest problem, what is the laserfix? For example, the modbo 4.0 chip is sold with and without an additional piece. What is this?84299_350.jpg I hope I will get some answers from you people who know more than me. Thanks!

I think you should use the "original" Matrix, cause you can "update" it. But be careful of clones!!!! By trying to update a clone you destroy the mod-chip.

    1. the additional piece is a fix for the V12 only, first releases. There is a bug in the laser-driver that gives the laser wrong power and destroy the laser or the laser-chip.

    2. Not all v12 need the fix. Some say for versions v12.1, v12.2, some say v13.
If you need to do the laser-fix depends on your board.
The "diode-fix" (on your picture) is only to make make money, say all people when you read threads. It doesnīt help really.
For that use the Sum0ne-fix itīs cheaper and help better...

Look the picture in the thread below, if your board looks like the picture, then you have to make the "fix".

If your board looks like this picture below, then you donīt need a "fix" (donīt look the red cable and the resistor, has nothing to do with it)...
