Hi, my two controllers seem to have stopped working for my PS2, they work on my friends PS2 so they are fine but my PS2 doesn't seem to recognise them. Occasionally if I plug them in really hard and jiggle them ariound a little they will work just long enough to press ''Play'' on a DVD, does anybody know what could be causing this problem?
faulty conteroller port/ribbon? all i can think of. the only problem i have is my memorycard slots, they do what your controller does. but i hope this helps. otherwise check the pins in the controller its self, or maybe blow some compressed air into the controller port.
Look inside the ps2 where the controller plugs in. I had this happen to me but only with my 2nd controller. There is a little metal slider thingy that is supposed to get pushed up when the controller is plugged in (completes circuit to the machine that controller is plugged in?). Anyways that thin piece of metal is likely bent. If you can try your controllers in another machine also look inside the port to see how the piece of metal is supposed to be shaped. i had to take the cover off my ps2 to bend it back to the proper shape. Mine was pushed back, I assume from pushing the controller in on an angle or too hard, but it has worked ever since I fixed it no problems
that shouldnt matter if you think of it, as my logitec wireless controller doesnt have any metal part where it usually is. i think that is for the analog (the normal ps controllers didnt have them from what i seen) but i say give it a shot.
no not on the controller, inside the ps2 unit's controller port
Thanks alot for the help guys! Ill try those tips now!
Right, I took apart the console, for the 100th time :P and snooped around the controller port area, and the first thing I noticed was that the ribbon wasn't connected to the console, after alot of fiddling and plugging/unpluggin I managed to get it to fit into the slot and stay in! I put the PS2 back together and turned it on, the controller now works :)
Thanks alot for the help guys
And to think I was gona buy a new PS2! :):):)
