I just bought a used ps2 which is a v5 or 6, I didn't opened it yet. If I'm right, back in the days there was a fix to do on those version. I think it was for a power related issues on the laser or something like that. Someone could confirm that?

    Thanks

The "fix" you were referring to must be a fix like the Romeo mod, meant to reduce the power going to the laser. It's only required for the SCPH-50000 series (v9-v11) and the SCPH-70000 (v12) console.

The v5/v6 consoles should have no problems, as long as you use good quality media and/or install a good modchip properly.
    Unmodified SCPH-77006 with SM 3.6
SCPH-39006 with M-chip modchip, SCPH-10281 NA and refurb Seagate 80GB HDD
SCPH-10000 v1.00 with SCPH-10190 PCMCIA NA and SCPH-20400 HDD unit
