06-01-2008,11:52 PMno they are not. i know that v9/v10 are interchangeable but a v3 laser would not work in a v9. hope this helps

Basically some configurations are not possible for either mechanical or electrical reasons but the major problem is aways the mechanism.
Newer consoles use smaller lasers.
You might be able to fit a 400C type laser on a V4 PS2 (which use old type laser) because it's mechanical construction allow for that.
