I made a topic about this 3 years ago, but I never got a response, so I'll try again.

I have an old SCPH-70012 PS2 slim here, that I've had for years. The laser died on it a while back[and I've been too cheap to replace it], so I figured I'd use it for OPS2Loader, but I found that the ethernet port seems to have died too. When I plug a cord from the PS2 to my router, the only light comes on is the Link/Act light. The Full/100 lights don't show up. It's an old 100mbps Linksys router. When my PC is connected, all 3 lights are lit up. Is this an indication my PS2's ethernet port is dead, or perhaps a fuse has blown? When I try to ping uLaunchElf after loading the ethernet module[s], Windows just says destination host unreachable. Thanks.

the nic on a slim ps2 is actually removable. So if it is indeed the port, you can replace it.

I would think it has something to do with your settings either on the ps2 side or the router side. Very rare for a nic card to just simply go bad.

Thanks for your reply. Do you think it'd be okay to swap the NIC from a newer PS2 slim? It's a scph-90001, which unfortunately is too new for FMCB[not that that matters..], so all I ever used it for was my legit copies of my games.

I don't see why it wouldn't fit/work. If it works it works, if it doesn't it doesn't. No harm will be done =]

When you said the nic is removable, did you mean the little ethernet jack port, that the cable plugs into? I see that it's connected to the motherboard via some black clips/pins, and it appears to be removable.

The black port is connected to a small green board that is visible on top of the metal casing. It is held down by two screws. After you take out those two screws you can take out the entire piece. Use a small flat head screw driver to lift up the piece from the right side.
