I have an old (V3 or earlier, I haven't opened it to find out for sure), unmodded PS2. After I've been playing on it a while, the controller on port 1 will either disconnect or switch out of analog mode. Sometimes I can just switch it back and keep going and sometimes I have to disconnect / reconnect it. This happens with every controller I've put on it so I'm pretty sure it's something with the system itself.

I've read that the controller ports are a common failure point on these. Does this problem sound like a port problem? If so, where's a good place to buy a replacement?

    Howdy!
Sounds dumb, but still.... do you already tried someonelse's pad?
I had a similar problem, and the problem was in the pad wire. Bought a new pad and it's all good now
Other than that, there's also a fuse in the controller port, that usually blows. but, seeing that you can turn the analog light back on, it prolly the wire.

    Happy new year

I don't think it's the pad because I've tried it several controllers ... they all do the same thing.
