its weird but my 2nd controller port dosn't work, but when i hav a control in there i can press the analog button and the red light comes on 4 that so somehow theres power 2 the controller but the ps2 doesnt read it when playing games

you blew a protection diode on the controller port ... probably a non sony controller with a worn out cable or a original sony controler with a thorn cable (i.e.: dog chew on the wire or such)
The only fix I see for you is exchange the controller pot assembly or :
The original controller port can be fixed by a professional, by removing the circuit board from the controller port assembly and replacing the protection diodes with a soldering iron.

I have the same problem, no idea how this happened, I hardly play 2player games (RPG addict) one day I tried to play SC3 and couldnt get the controller to work tried nbalive and various other titles and then checked the cable so it must be a diode? any further info would be greatly appreciated!
