At work we have a toasted 50003 fat ps2 sitting here from a customers vain attempt at onboard soldering. I was wondering if changing the mobo to another one I have from the same series but different model board (027 instead of 023) will work?

you can swap it with eitheer another v9 or v10 board no problem m8
I tried another board with original drive, but it now seems to act like a dead laser. ps1 games boot (maybe other CDs havent tried) but dvds and ps2 game dvds wont. Ive got ANOTHER board that just arrived so I'll try that one (seeing I have two confirmed good laser drives (its really bizarre). However im too drunk now as its a long weekend so the other ps2 is just sitting there on the bench as Im too lazy/drunk to go downstairs and find my screwdrivers.
On another note im really peeved that the 60gb ps3 with 2 games, 2 controllers, hdmi lead, surge protector, two movies that i ordered is just SITTING in the shop - i was holding it but the bastard payment company decided to close early for the holiday so now its 4 days of buggy ps2s.![]()
