can someone identify this
can someone identify this –
hi, i have a version 9 mobo that i got from ebay,,,
now it boots fine but doesnt spin disc's or move the laser.(seems i have a couple that do this)..it has a duo2 chip that i didnt install, the guy i got it off said that it did this but he thought it was due to a laser incompatiblity..
also it has had a la6508 replacement ic put on it and i had found that some of the legs werent contacting nor did they want to contact. so i replaced with a la6508 rii chip but the end result is still the same...
also it didnt have the romeo fix done on it when i got it, so i thought first thing was to test the la chip...
a couple of things i would like to know is if anyone could identify a mod on this board, it has a wire used to link to contacts, that i have not seen done before.
and if anyone has had this kind of problem before..
i have also checked all the fuses and tried different lasers which work in other v9's
sorry about the pic quality but it was taken on my phone
picture by itself is not enough to guess what you are asking? you said it was a duo2 so you know the mod so I assume you are asking what the red wire is doing?
BTW - you do not do the romeo mod when a LA6508 RII is fitted!
yes i know what mod chip is on it but what is the red wire doing, as i have not seen anyware this being done. read the post again and youll see that i said that the board didnt have the romeo mod when i got it which then had a LA6508 ic not the RII....
hmm, looks like an NTSC/PAL fix to me.
If you want help please stay a little bit more civil!
If you want to know what the red wire is doing take a couple more shots - a shot of both ends of the wire - and a shot further back showing where the close up shots are on the circuit board. Then I can help you more accurately.
i simply said "read the post again", whats not civil about that...and you can see both ends of the wire in the picture...besides, thats the best pic i can do at the moment.....but i will check up on that ntsc to pal fix....
cheers guys for your input so far
Hard to tell but it looks like a fuse may have been removed and jumped ....??
the wires are both coming from capacitors and no sign's of any fuse being there at all..
photo is so bad - looked to me that the red wire went off the bottom of the photo - but from what you say I now assume it does but loops back again...
Is the photo of the base of the mainboard? If it is then it is more than likely to be a NTSC fix...
I have attached an example of what it might be - although note that the picture is from an earlier model.
no sorry its the top side of the board near ps1 fuse
