    My PS2 is an SCPH-70011.
    It fell approximately 3 inches off the back of my DVD player hitting the shelf behind it.
    The laser moves around like it should but the disk will not spin.
    The problem is not with the sensors that tell the ps2 it's closed either as the laser resets it's position when opened and moves around when closed.
    Other than not being able to play games the ps2 works 100% fine, I can play games via USB, emulators, SMS, ect.

    I assume the spindle is damaged?
    Anyone know a reputable place to buy one?

    I'd check the spindle for disconnected ribbons. I bet its that. I don't know how many PS2 I've seen this with laser getting jammed or some ribbon come off. If you r drive is surly broken then they have one here

    that drive motor won't work for his. he has a v12 (first of the slims) What's listed in that link you posted is one for a fatty (1-11)

    edit - here's about the only way to get a new one. http://www.divineo.com/cgi-bin/div-us/zz-p2-full802

    I've checked everything out and there are no loose wires.

    I've seen just the spindle motor for my version on ebay for about $9, but I'm going to assume that I'd be better off just buying and replacing the whole "Full Optical Block" instead of just the spindle.

    Question, has anyone ever ordered from divineo? How trustworthy are they?

    I've ordered once from them and had no issues, but I've heard horror stories from others. If you have a deal for 9 bucks on ebay, I'd go that first if your laser is working.

    I think I'll go with the whole kit and kaboodle, instead of just the spindle.
    If I'm going to replace one piece I may as well replace others that are likely to stop working any time now.
    I've heard of people whose v12's have had less wear and tear than mine who's lasers have died well before this amount of time.
    Thank you for your help.

    @arucardo:

    if this was my console, then i would fully remove the dvd drive assembly and inspect it for any broken or loose parts. if the drive assembly checks ok then you can take the console apart to inspect the mobo to see if anything is broken or something looks odd. a slim looks a lot easier to work with than with a fatty.
