Boot OtherOS++ on PS3 with a NAND flash = now a possible brick
Boot OtherOS++ on PS3 with a NAND flash = now a possible brick –
After running Boot OtherOS++ on my NAND PS3 unit, the system seems to be bricked. It was only after running the Boot OtherOS++ homebrew application that I realized that the OtherOS++ Prep tool and Boot loader were intended for the NOR PS3 unites.
I was running Cyberskunk's REBUG 3.55.1 patched to enable the OtherOS++ features. At the moment the unit power's up with the green light, but does absolutely nothing else. What really has me perplexed, is the fact that that the Boot OtherOS++ homebrew application should not be writing anything to /dev/flash, yet the system appears to be bricked. Especially since I never ran the OtherOS++ prep tools, as I was not about to run something that could potentially write to /dev/flash.
Furthermore, I have completely disassembled the unit in order to pull the CMOS BIOS battery from the motherboard in hopes of resetting any configurations that the battery was responsible for maintaining.
I am totally pissed at Sony for removing the OtherOS feature, and am extremely interested in getting a lightweight BSD kernel running on my console... Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated. And I apologize in advance if this is being posted in the wrong place.
