Black and White Color (NTSC) fix for v3-v14
Black and White Color (NTSC) fix for v3-v14 –
I was testing the FMCB lately and had the problem, that my NTSC games
on my (unmoded) PAL PS2 played only in black and white color, even so, my
old Amiga Monitor is capable to display NTSC in color.
So i remebered an old color fix which i once installed on my old v3 board and
searched for the diagrams.
Enclosed is what i found!
Of course the fix is not capable to fix the 50-60Hz problem (shaking picture),
but now the PS2 plays everything in color.
I had once a problem when i visited the Philippines with my old v3 (PAL) PS2 in
my backpack (DMS3 v1 and NTSC color fix inside).
The thing was, that i was unable to get color out of most of the TV's there and
i wonder if it was because i also had the NTSC color fix applied to my
The TV's there had no SCART connection, only the 3 chinch connectors.
I have tried everything (changing the firmware of the old DMS3, set the mode
to force NTSC, but it didn't work out).
Oh well, at least i could fix the 60Hz problem that way.
In some other posts i read, that the color fix enables only RGB mode, maybe
it would be best to remove it, because it overlays the mod chip abilities.
And maybe i really don't need it if i have the old DMS3 inside.
Can somebody give me an advice about it?
