Last year I purchased a new 400c laser for my v7, without knowing about the anti-static points on the laser I installed it and tried it. Later finding out about the points. After removing points it would only play cd's, dvd's would not play. I tried adjusting the height and azimouth of the laser, but all I could get out if it was cd play.
What damage is done by not removing the points?
Is there damage to the laser, mother board, or both?
I am wanting to revive this basket case from last year.

    Thanks,
    Dave

There are 2 anti-static points in the back of the laser, make sure both points are removed.
