About V12 laser type

Hi!

As soon as i got to mod my V9, i got my hands on V12, aka SCPH-70004

Well, this one has only one common problem, a dead laser.
I bought sometime ago PVR802W, and read on net that V12 has exactly the same. But now when i'm trying to fit it in, it does'nt fit. It's shorter than the present laser, SPU3170J.

So what i'm asking, what are the confirmed lasers that will fit in place of SPU3170J?

And second question, what's the best laser protection for this? Net is filled with crossed info on this.

Hm, one system? This one is totally different. Well i could have merged those different things on one, but this feels more clearer way.
