Z-point help!! –
09-28-2002,01:36 AM
I have a green Magic Chip II v7 Board (clone) I believe. it came with the premodded system. It couldn't boot gameshark. So I open the console and found out that the person who soldered the system didn't solder the Z point. Therefore I tried to solder the Z point myself. The result is:
When I press eject, the DVD tray eject out. But when I press eject again to close the DVD tray, it doesn't reponse (doesn't want to close the DVD tray).
Can anyone tell me what's the problem is?

It is a known fact that the clones Z point messes up the PS2 tray. You have to leave this unhooked. Also, the clones do not work with the Gameshark.

There are absolutely no alternative ways to boot gameshark or any other cheating device?

I tested the v7 Magic 2 clone (see thread http://www.ps2newz.net/forums/showth...&threadid=1009).
Please see my entries for AR2 (which is the PAL version of GS2). To be precise it was v2.0, so there may be a v2.2 issue of which I am not aware.
One thing the PS2 has to do is boot an original 'game', and GS2 qualifies in this respect.

I have tried the swapping method. and it works for PS1 games with GS2+. but for the PS2 copies, it gives an "INSERT PS1 or PS2 Games".
I have read your post. and I noticed that only v7.0 have the problem with using gameshark but not v5.0
Charlie, can you give me advice on how to get the gameshark to work on PS2 rips??
Should I just buy Matrix Chip?? does the soldering in Matrix Chip is the same as Magic 2 (Clone)??
Can I just desolder the Magic Chip (the points on the modchips) and replace the chip with Matrix? Or I have to re-soldering everything?
