XO-2 Chip Installed - Some DVDr-s lock/freeze
XO-2 Chip Installed - Some DVDr-s lock/freeze –

I recently modded my ps2 V7 39001 with a XO-2 chip from Lan-Kwei. Everything I threw at it, worked fine. Original PS2, PS1, DVD, to PS2, DVD, DVD backups. All booted first time. So I'm thinking... kick ass mod.
A few days later, I get a DVD backups of Madden 2K3, and SOCOM. I tried Madden first and it boots up through the PS2 logo and then it just hangs. With SOCOM, it just hangs at the opening "loading" screen. I tried swapping these two that didn't work using the GS method and still, nada.
All the other DVDr backups I have work flawlessly the first time. Another note, the DVDr media used in my case have all been the same. If you guys have any insight into this problem, please help out a fellow gamer because he's thirsty for some online Madden and SOCOM lovin'.

An update to my saga in getting these games to work:
I recently tried a backup copy of Tribes Aerial Assault and I knew this test would confirm what I initially thought.
All these games that somehow will not fully boot (Madden, SOCOM, and now Tribes Aerial Assualt) have one thing in common, they are all online compatible. I don't have a network adapter installed but it is on the way.
What I don't understand is why this would make a difference. The game should work without the network adapter, why is my mod being picky about online compatible games. It boggles the mind.
Charlie_PS2... Any input from you would be appreciated. Anyone else that has a theory to why this is happening, feel free to let me in on this. I may be just an unlucky guy that will be forced to mod another ps2 just to play online games. =\

I'm afraid all I can say is that when you see the Playstation2 logo the modchip has long since stopped functioning in respect of that boot.
I have no insight into whether or not the game holds you off if there is no network card. A worthwhile thing to try might be to hire an original of one of these games and see if that boots.

All I can add is that I was given a dvd-r (verbatim) backup of madden 2003 and it seems to work fine on a v7 w/XO-2. I don't have the network adapter either.

FWIW, ditto. Madden 2003 burned on an Apple at 2x works fine on my Messiah-modded v4-1A.
