I bought at XO-37 chip from lan kwei and got it installed in my SCPH-37000L but I'm having problems getting DVD-Rs to boot up. It takes me 3 to 4 times powering it on and off before I can get it to boot. I also tried pressing reset to get it to work but it wouldn't work. I got my backups burned on verbatim DVD-Rs and they booted on ps2 with magic 2 fine. I always get the red screen or it would boot up to the playstation 2 logo then it would jump back to the memory card screen then the red screen asking for a playstation 1/playstation 2 disc. I got this chip installed by someone else, so I am not sure what is wrong with it. Is the chip defective or guage of wires aren't high enough? Also, I tried to boot ps1 backups by holding down the reset until the blue light blinks but as soon as I let go of the reset button, the tray goes back in but the ps2 just goes back to standby mode. If anyone can tell me what's wrong, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Get a messiah2. It's better than the XO-Chip. I also recommend a pro do it. You can also turn off the chip and check out the install diagrams. You need a v7 diagram. The chip might be defective. Many people hate lan-kwei for selling XO-Chips.

Thanks for the answer. Do you happen to know any places that do a good job installing ps2 mods?

There are a few installers that install the messiah2. Necrolop installs messiah2 just check out the vendors area in the Buy/Sell/Trade Forum and you will find his post. Many installers aren't doing installs for now because of the holidays. http://www.psx-tech.com/ wont do installs untill the holidays. I recommend buying the chip and get the install service where you provide it instead of chip and installation. Just click on the charlie_ps2 e-mail link and use paypal for the order. It's 65 dollars plus $8.00 usd shipping. More on this later on. charlie_ps2

i dont think a chip gonna fix your dvdr problem
some v7 have trouble reading dvdr either the laser slide are warn which is unlikly considering its new or it your brand of media that you are using on your ps2 which in your case the ps2 doesnt like it
try another brand of disc and see what happens
