WTF??? V12, laser mods, H20 chip, blown new laser!!! –

i got a V12 laser i bought faulty with a blown laser, i chipped it with the H20, put in a new laser, hooked up the subzero laser fix on the H20 chip along with the correct resistor and a week later it blew the laser again.
what could have caused this and why???

The fix is not perfect. Some lasers are just so crappy that they burn out.

I have had this problem. v12 chipped with h20 , works perfectly for a while than starts skipping slightly and gradually gets worse until laser is stuffed. Change laser with working one. Works for while then starts skipping. Quickly take laser out before it gets worse. Put it back in other console all is fine. I did some swapping lasers , laser blocks , MB"s with h2o chips installed etc , etc . Came up with one common denominator. The MB with chip installed. So I took the chip out , re-connected the cut track and left the resistor in. The ps2 without the chip has been playing flat out for 3 days , not a problem yet. (with the chip in it was only taking 10 min for you to notice the skipping) . My next move is to try another chip in the console but I wont have one till friday. I'll keep you informed. Feel free to throw in some theories . Cheers

mine lasted longer than that. but i will tell you something i didnt mention above. when i was fitting the new laser last month i actually dropped it and it put a small crack on the outer part of the lens with the crack extending about half way to the centre of the laser. i thought it might have stuffed it but i put it in any way and it worked fine. so would this have had an affect on the short life of the laser?

Ok , I've replaced the old chip H2O with a new one .I have had the ps2 on for about 8 hours and so far not a problem. If it continues to work then I can confirm that it is a faulty chip. Maybe the inbuilt fix of the H2O isn't working ????? I've had no other problems with the H2O chips in all my other installs.

what you mean? remove the fix altogether?? or just join the track rendering the fix useless?
