    Orite so in the thread
    http://www.ps2newz.net/forums/showth...t=30157&page=3
    I decided on the chip
And i waz told about this website
    http://www.cyber-mag.com/station/ps2tips.htm#sectVIAS

22 awg wire for the pwr and gnd points
    30 awg for the rest

Right well on that site above
    AWG 22 is .65mm and AWG 30 is .25mm (AWG 22 = SWG 22, AWG 30 = SWG 33)
    Anyway if thats correct

those wires are absolutly tiny, i mean diddy

Is this right, cos they say u can use ata133 cable (80pin) and the wires in that are ALOT thicker

Also the diagrams on www.o2mod.com look alot thicker then this

so just to make sure, how big should this be ?

Yep that is the correct wire width.

If you have seen the size of the points on the mainboard you will be soldering that wire onto, you'll be glad it's so small and versatile.

Even the pwr and gnd should be .65mm ?? this is still very thin
Or should it be thicker ?

My opinion is that the wire should be a bit thicker because when I soldered my chip I first used the awg22 and awg30 wire and the backups booted 1 out of 10 so I resoldered the chip and still no change. So I used thicker wire no awg value on it but when the chip was installed it boots up backups directly with + and - dvdrs.

Also make your pwr and gnd points real short. Especially the gnd point. I hope this helps.

There have probably been thousands of modchips installed with 22AWG and 30AWG.. it's not too small to work. If it's too small for you to work with, then you may have trouble soldering some of the points. The 30AWG kynar wire is great for modchip installations, it goes exactly where you want it, it's cheap, and it's easy to solder.

I'm going to second Thinkdiff's statements. the 30awg kynar wire is the perfect width for bios points, and the conductive element is a single wire rather than twisted strands (which are a pain in the ass to solder). The only difficulty I had with it was with stripping it, but otherwise I thought it was pretty well suited for ps2 mod chip installations. Its malleable enough to get squished by the heat/ground shields for the motherboard and not break/pop off the solder points.

Well the A point you dont solder on to the via. The B and I points can be soldered on the controller itself but you need to use a saftey razor blade with blue tack. A magnifying glass is important because they are thin legs. But the cyber-mag one is for vias is good. 22 and 30 AWG wire is used in a lot of thse installs. I also think the pwr/and gnd should not be real long. The shorter the wire the better. I hope this helps.

Edit: For the 22 AWG wire they recommend 7 core stranded for the 5v and GND. The stock location is good. Although. I hope this helps.
