I am currently using a kleintool with 30 awg stripping capabilty. It is old and not working like it did when i first got it. I have seen some real nice ones out there. What do the pro modders here like to use. I would like to upgrade? Thanks

I too would like to get a good pair of wire strippers....
I use the crappy radioshack brand, it is very frustrating to use.
More than half the time I end up using a scissor and my fingernails....![]()
a lighter and a nail clipper will do the job!!!
well it can also depend on the insulation of the wire. i know that radio shack wires use less insullation causing it to be harder to strip with strippers. Maybe look on ebay for a good one
I got my pair at Fry's electronics. I would rate them as a little above avg, but probably not the spectacular strippers that you are looking for. Instead of Radio Shack or Ebay (where you can't really put your hands on what you are bidding on), I would try the local electronics supply store... Talk to the guys that work there and find out from them which ones are good (or where you can get some great ones).
I suppose you could try a big hardware store as a last resort
I use CK wire strippers from http://www.tooled-up.com or http://rswww.com. Both in the UK, but I guess you can find them anywhere, best wire strippers ever made!!

It came as part of some wire wrap tool I got from radio shack. Able to strip wire wrap and soft wire no prob. I get precision with that and some needle nose plyers, plus I never have to melt my wire so my iron tips last longer![]()
ok cool CK it is![]()
I use regular wire strippers. Just be careful to not apply full pressure on the wire. I either put it in the cutter or the smallest hole at an angle. Cheaper, imo.![]()
guys,
this is what i use, 2 layers of pvc insulating tape covers each jaw of the wire stripper. This adds a gap to the blades that is just enough for the insulation stripping.
