I have a ver 9 ps2. I just installed a matrix infinity. The install went great. No crossed wires, no bridges, all wires perfect continuity. When i first started it up it worked fine. All backups booted up. After about 1 hour it wouldnt boot originals or backups. But it will sometimes boot cdrs. So i reflashed the chip and that went fine. But all it does now is click while it tries to read the disc. Then all i get is disc read errors. The chip seems to be working. I can flash the chip, get into config menu and disable the chip. When I disable the chip I get the same problem. Any ideas?

am afraid ur PS2 is dead my friend, i had the same problem, not on a V-9 though.
it seems that ur DVD laser pod is burned out, it happened to me. am not much of an expert, i only modded about 5 PS2's with the Matrix Infinity. i got 3 to work lol :/

I tried to re-install the chip about 5 times, but no use, i could only play CD-r's ...

the broken PS2's were old and they've been reported hard to mod when under V-7.

Sounds like your coils are dead. You should check your LA chip aswell (since its probably blown too)

if its the same with another laser then your LA6508 IC has expired more than likely.

Yu will need to replace it with another and perform the romeo mod so it doesnt blow again or you can alternatively get one of the LA6508 Clones which use the BA5815 which was a much more robust controller from the V7's.
