    Hi Guys,
I got a ver7 ps2 w/ an apple chip & every time I go to load Max Payne It loads as far as rockstar screen & then when it supposed to start game, It goes to red screen, please insert ps2 disk. The wierd part is, this happens w/ dvd-r & Original copy!!!!!!!!!! Anybody got a clue what could be up with this?.........It's the only game I've come accross that I cant get to work w/ this system & I've tried over 175 cd-r's & dvd-r's & originals..............tdog4:eek:

I think Max Payne has some form of anti-mod protection and requires a patch. I haven't got it so can't test but there are a few people who have had the same issue.

I think we should be sure that such protection exists, or else we can start thinking Matrix2 is lying to us

Here are the supported media with a Matrix mod:

    Media:
    [OK] DIRECT BOOT PS1 CD-R
    [OK] DIRECT BOOT PS1 SILVER
[OK] DIRECT BOOT PS1 ORIGINAL IMPORT
    [OK] DIRECT BOOT PS2 CD-R
    [OK] DIRECT BOOT PS2 DVD-R
[OK] DIRECT BOOT PS2 DVD SILVER
[OK] DIRECT BOOT PS2 ORIGINAL IMPORT
[OK] DIRECT BOOT EA SPORTS GAMES BACKUP
[OK] DIRECT BOOT EA SPORTS GAMES IMPORT
    [OK] DIRECT BOOT MAXPAYNE PROTECTION
[OK] DIRECT BOOT CDR 80 MIN SUPPORT

    System:
    [OK] PS1 LOGO CONSERVED
    [OK] PS2 LOGO CONSERVED
    ---------------------------------------

So I guess now it's official

    Greets!

Just as an FYI, a Max Payne original and DVD-R boots and plays fine in both my v4-1A Messiah and a v1-0D with a Magic2 V3.

Apparently there's a slight difference between the code in the Apple and the code in the Magic2 and Matrix...

backup of max payne seem to run fine on my friends 30001r fitted with apple chip. will have to test it on my other friends machine who has an apple chip 30001 installed on an early version 4.

But can't tell you if it will work on a us v7 since none of my mates have one.

so I was wondering if only the v7 detection system different to the previous boards?

Actually, there may be a whole new hitherto undetected can of worms rearing it's ugly head with the v7s as LOD has just pointed out in another thread.

It's getting to be a real crap-shoot with this stuff as of late...
