Just a question, how many of you use the magicv kx+ (green pcb, i ordered from robotpig) w/out the fix and have been running it fine for roughly a month or more w/out any problems (using RiData media or better ) I have a slim pstwo, bought kindom hearts retail, anywho, it has the new laser that I saw in another post, just wondering since I went to radioshack to find a resistors in the value of 560Ohm/1.8K Ohm/2.0K Ohm and they didnt have any of those, would it be HIGHLY suggested that I use a fix because I don't want this thing to fry on me...

I use a Magic 5KX , dont knw if its plus though. My chip board is red, not green. When i first put it in i blew my laser. I put the same chip into another v12 machine aswell as a 1.8 resistor and its been working perfect for a week so far.

    I would strongly suggest it.

The resistor install is very easy. The PStwo that blew was only 3 weeks old and it was powered on and reading a game for about 30 seconds total. After it went the machine would boot but would not recognize any media.

I can't comprehend why everyone wouldn't do the summ0ne resistor fix on every install. It's like doing the Romeo... we do it on every 9/10/11.

I don't care on iota that the magic/muppet/m-7 teams say their chips don't cause mechacon crashes... it's just good policy to throw in the resistor. I personally haven't done a v12 without it.
