White Power Button Fell Off
White Power Button Fell Off –
07-13-2005,11:46 PM
I wasn't sure where to post this. I decided to post it here since this happened while I was modding my v12.
During the mod I opened the case and had a little white button fall out. I discovered that the little white button was needed to power on my ps2. It goes right behind the power switch on the front of the slimline. It is the actual button that is pressed inorder to activate the ps2's power funtions.
The problem is I have no Idea how to fix this problem.
I tried gluing it back into place. It worked while it was glued, but only when it was rotated in a certain direction (not just horizontally, but a specific end had to face up). Unfortunaley the glue dried. The button was almost ruined but still clicks a little. However the back has glue on it and doesnt seem to make enough contact with the internal power board. I want to solder it in, but I fear that it can only go in that one specific way I initally discovered.
If anyone has any experience with this feel free to chime in.
Thank you for your time.

I think you need a new one. I think richspsxparts.com have some.

Boy that sucks. Sounds like a very obscure part.

This has happened to me twice on V12. It just pops off when you take the cover off. I just soldered them back on.
South Africa. Repairs, chips etc.

Yes, I've done that on two as well, so I too soldered them back on. I find when opening that if pressure is applied to the bottom half of the cover at the front of the console, it pops of quite readily, then with the console on its end with the reset side facing up, you can push again on the bottom cover whilst gently pullin and it parts with ease.

Thanks for all the information. I tried to solder it on, but I think I damaged it internally with the super glue. I got pissed and just took it back and got a V9. The V12 seemed a little chinsy for my tastes. Again thanks guys hopefully anyone with this silly problem reads this thread.

Sorry to be a pain. I now have another concern. I removed my magic S+ chip from that v12 and now I have to put it in the V9. I never really had a chance to test it on the v12. So is there a way I can test it before installing it into the V9? Could I take a multimeter to it and check each point. I guess I would have to know the voltage rating of each point as well. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Again thank you.

before you mode the v9 do the romeo mode as for the magic just put it in and try it.

For the Romeo Mod all I have to do is disconnect pin 17 and connect it to 5 volts? All the laser adjusting is for an already existing problem with the laser correct?
