I note you said you don't understand what we're saying. Ask your installer to:
Set the PS2 level (use a spirit level to make sure it's even).
Open the tray ensure that is level to using the spirit level
Adjust the cog till that's level - i.e. 100% parallel with the disk tray
i cant take it back 2 the teknician..as he closed my ps2 he slapped a warranty sticker over 1 of the screw holes.. and now since ive opened it up 2 trial it, the sticker is torn and the only choice i have now is 2 ask u guys 4 help..
... and I've given it to you.
- Set the PS2 level (use a spirit level to make sure it's even).
- Open the tray ensure that is level to using the spirit level
- Adjust the cog till that's level - i.e. 100% parallel with the disk tray
When the sled rails are 100% parallel with the tray, it's in the default position. Diagrams are in the White Cog Adjustment FAQ item.
ok..i understand up to step 2
but how will i b able 2 adjust the cog and make it 100% parallel with the disk tray? as far as i can see, eyeballing it would b hard becoz u dont get a straight side on view of the sled and tray..and i dont know which part of the sled u r refering to! even if i bring the cog round 2 a full rotation, itll neva b parallel with the tray??
I told you, use a spirit level. Have the PS2 opened up to reveal the white cog. When the PS2 is in a position so that the the disk tray is level (you would need to briefly switch on the PS2 and open the tray, get it level, then close the tray, then switch off power at the back), you can adjust the cog using the method described in the FAQ with the spirit level sat on the sled rails to ensure eventual levelness.
The FAQ has the pictures of the sled and the rails. If that isn't clear enough you must take the PS2 to a pro or you'll get into a hopeless mess.
where is the faq?!?!?!?..ive been searchin like crazy and this is the only pic ive come up with
plz gime the direct link, thanku
and even if that is the pic, it dusnt giv me a very good idea of how 2 go about it. like i sed earlier, ive taken the cog thru its whole rotation, the sled is NEVER parallel with the tray..ill show u, the following picture i took is with the sled as HIGH as it can go, one more notch and itll jes snap back down again..
as u can see its not parallel! and thats the highest angle the sled will reach
im so confused..
also, wot dus a spirit level look like?..hmm.. i think i hav an idea of wot it is but do they come in a small enuff size so i can sit it on the rails?
The FAQ is here http://www.ps2newz.net/forums/showth...&threadid=948. Why couldn't you find it?
A spirit level is the only tool that will help someone who cannot do the adjustment visually. Go to a hardware store and ask for the smallest spirit level they have - should be no more than about 9 cms span. Ask them how to use it by looking at the air bubble in a liquid. When the bubble is central, the surface on which you've placed the spirit level is level.
etruong83, you seem to have a lot of problems. LOL
charlie, did you get the bit bout how i cant ever get the rails to be parallel with the tray? here it is again..
even if i did hav a spirit level, it wouldnt make a difference if i chuk it on the rails coz it will never b level! like i said thats the highest my sled will go
unless im lookin at it totally wrong. could u hav a look at the pic and tell me where im going wrong?
The cog tilts the sled rails. So turning it the other way will level the rails somewhere in the 'centre'. When you go to the other end, it will be tilting in the opposite sense.
Good meaningful picture byt the way.
