What's wrong with this laser?

Hi,

I have a v5/v6 Ps2 in here with a strange problem. It happend a few weeks ago. The console crashed while playing Def Jam Vendetta and making strange sounds (really hard and fast clicking sounds) from the laser. When pussing the reset button, the console still makes this sound a few secs (about 4 secs). The sound never goes away, doesn't matter how many times pushing the reset button. A few days ago, I hitted the console with my hand on the cover point where the laser is under. I resetted the console, and the sound was gone. I was really happy on that time because the console would not read anything with the clicking sound appeared. But after a few hours turning the console back on the clicking sound appeared again. only when hitting the console again on the same piont the sound goes away. I don't know what i can do to solve this problem. can somebody please give me some information how to solve this problem?

the laser isn't making good contact with the guide rail cuasing the fast clicking sound and when hitting the console it makes contact with it

Thanks for the information, but how can I Solve it? What to do to get this problem away? (because I think it's not to good to keep hitting this friends ps2

. BTW: the console is modded with a Mini Apple Pro, I have a little question: How can this problem appear?

Hi,

The guide rail are those 2 iron rails where the laser is connected on? Can you send me a picture of it (sorry i'm from the netherlands)

no it's where the plastic thing of hte laser that makes it go up and down

I guss this is a white plastic , when CDROM is traying to move the laser to start point you can see it when CDROM is open and you press reset .

Hi,

I found the plastic thing, but how can I clean the under side? I need to clean the side under the plastic (don't know how to explain it real good).
