Having a little trouble getting this chip to work. Seems like ps2 games, even originals, go straight to the memory card screen, showing a Gold disc. When I hit X on the controller to boot, it just comes back to this screen.

The PS2 is a version 4. I've had a lot of success with other modchips based on the ICE code, such as DUO2, but this one is a no go:/

Switched wires around to alt. points, both on the motherboard and the chip (using B and RST1 points), but nothing.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks! swordfish

PS: for those of you not familiar with the Ripper IV chip, it has B, B1, RST, and RST1 points, but only B1 and RST are used in the diagrams.

A V12 diagram can be found here: http://www.************.com/files/in...-diagramme.jpg

The laser of the PS2 I'm testing is brand new so there *shouldn't* be any problems. If I disconnect any of the CD/DVD controller points, originals will work fine.

Tried another chip in another system (V4) and still can only get it to show a Gold Disc using originals/backups:/

Disabling the chip will allow originals to boot fine though. oh well..

    Just made a discovery..

After the disc seems to boot and the screen goes black, if I physically slow the disc down and let go, the game will then boot normally! I've tested this theory a few times, and it works.

    I wonder why..

Hehe, managed to get this chip to work exceptionally well Don't use their W point in the diagram but rather the traditional W point closer to R. Also make sure to "ground-wrap" both R&W wires. This means soldering a wire to Ground and wrapping it around each wire (individually).

Aside from the weird PlayStation2 logo during boot up sequence, this chip works 100%.
