A dentist tool is the best but you can also use a pin to do this. Add a bit of solder, heat it up and just lift it off, being careful not to rip the pad off.
why add the solder m8??

I just add a little as it helps flow around the leg and you can just lift it up easier. Everyone has there own way, that 1 works best for meOriginally Posted by pegz
The best way would be to use a heat gun and heat proof tape to do the job real easy![]()

It makes the solder melt easier, the Mobo conducts heat and takes more to get it to remelt...
It's actually a common soldering technique to "wet" the soldering tip to help in the heat transfer.
cool, cheers guys![]()
I use a desolder braid. Heat it up for a second, it sucks all the solder right of the pad, and then I just life the pin slowly once it cools. I usually use the end of my utility knife. Screwed up one of my very very first one and the pin broke but there was just enough metal left on the chip to get a wire to stick and it's still going a year later. Take your time ,practice on an old pc motherboard or something.
Use a needle and put it under pin 17 and lift it up, then correct pin 17 to straighten it out.
why you guys still lifting the pin, it's a lot easier to do the romeo mod on the underside of the board, well I think so anyway![]()
