what's the best chip for a v4 ps2?

I have a v4 ps2, and i have a mod cube usb chip. I've had for so long, but I finally got a dvd burner (apple mac super drive, pioneer 103) and I made a game copy and it won't boot. I was wondering if anybody knows the best chip for a v4 (preferably a no swap), and I'm good at sodering so it doesn't matter how many wires it has........ anyway thanks
